SVHS Academy Opportunities

  • These academy opportunities are for those students that are zoned to attend Shades Valley High School.

    These options are separate from the 草榴社区 County Academy opportunities and the Signature Academies. No application is required for these options for students.

    The Shades Valley High School campus offers students many opportunities for career academies through our Shades Valley Schools program. The nearby Shades Valley Technical Academies (SVTA) center, located at 5191 Pine Whispers Drive in Irondale, also offers students many career pathways through the 草榴社区 County Academies program.

    Participating in a Shades Valley School

    Shades Valley Schools are open to students attending Shades Valley High School.  Interested students should discuss their options with their counselor.

    Applying for a 草榴社区 County Academy

    Students already attending a school with the 草榴社区 County Public School System and students outside the 草榴社区 County Public School System may apply for admission to the 草榴社区 County Academies.  

    In order to apply, please follow the following steps:

    1. Complete the Academy application.  The application may be printed from the 草榴社区 County Academies page of this website or may be picked up at the Shades Valley High School office.
    2. Obtain all supplemental items necessary, such as transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, etc.  See the application for full details.
    3. Submit the completed application to the Shades Valley High School office.  Applications may be hand delivered or mailed.
    4. Some academies require an audition or submission of work samples.  If you have questions about requirements, contact the academy director listed on the application.

    Academy directors review applications and send letters of acceptance to the address provided on the application.  The letter of acceptance will provide instructions for accepting your position in the academy.

    Shades Valley School of Business and Finance is located on the Shades Valley High School Main Campus. Our academy is now in its eighteenth year. This academy is a wonderful way for students to get a head start on college and career. Students will gain extensive knowledge in the fields of Finance and Accounting and will even get the chance to intern with a financial industry leader in the summer before their senior year or as a co-op experience during their senior year. All 草榴社区 County students are eligible to enroll in this fantastic program.

  • JC Academy of Business and Finance

    JCABF introduces students to a broad range of career opportunities in the financial services industry equipping them to make sound choices for the future. JCABF is a member of the National Academy Foundation (NAF). NAF’s mission is to sustain a national network of career academies to support the development of America’s youth toward personal and professional success. NAF academies represent business/school partnerships that prepare students for future careers through a combination curricula and work-based experiences.

  • JC Academy of Theatre and Dance

    The 草榴社区 County Academy of Theater and Dance allows students the opportunity to study their craft in a professionally-oriented program intended for serious students. Multiple programs are presented each year utilizing student actors on stage. The program is designed to develop highly-trained theatre and dance students who intend to pursue related fields as their intended professions. This-award winning program has been selected repeatedly as one of the top ten high school productions in the United States.
